ϟ I’m not sure how I feel about the phrase: “I’m going to masturbate while thinking about you later and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

I understand that masturbation is a normal and healthy part of everyone’s life, and that it is common practice, at least according to every account I have heard, that said masturbator is going to be thinking about someone or something at the time to aid them.

And ordinarily I wouldn’t have a problem with the idea that someone was masturbating while picturing me, as long as they were appreciating me and not objectifying me (You know, being more than just a masturbatory tool for them). There is, of course, no empirical or practical way to measure this, so we’re just going to have to work off the assumption that every human is underlyingly good, and while this is hard to believe, will be employed for this particular model.

But adding the phrase “there’s nothing you can do about it”? I’m not sure what idea you’re trying to give me? Is this the first step onto a slippery slope wherein my body becomes your object and my will or sentiments become obsolete? Are you effectively saying that you are capable of taking my sexuality, or what control I have of my sexuality out of my hands? I fear that this is leading in the direction of your believing you can take what you want and completely ignore what consequences that may have for another person and their right give or withhold consent.

I’m not sure if I’m taking this a little too far, thinking about it too much, or if it may not be generalizable to the whole population of people who say this. I of course realise that the meaning of what a lot of what people say is based largely on tone, and I don’t mean to offend anyone or undermine your intentions if you are, in fact, one of the people who says this if the phrase has a completely different meaning to you that I do not understand or have not acknowledged (and it will be interesting to hear those opinions - and I say that in a legitimately non-sarcastic way).

In short, I still haven’t decided on my opinions but am acknowledging an emotional response that I had to being addressed this way. I sincerely hope I haven’t offended anyone in this piece (if so, please bring it to my attention) and hope everyone can share their opinions with me, whether they be positive or negative, because I am keen to learn how different parties respond to this sort of confrontation.

This is kind of my first serious post on tumblr, so um, thank you for your time?
